During the European Green Party (EGP) Council meeting in Budapest, webmasters, press officers and digital strategists gathered to exchange best practices and learn about the differences in social media use and relevance across Europe.
Under the guidance of Willem Dudok (@WillemDudok), digital strategist at Johnny Wonder in the Netherlands, we learned about the changes in news production (news has become a conversation), the importance of different degrees of involvement for Green Party supporters, and future evolutions such as social production and gamification of online campaigning.
After the workshop, participants from several European Green Parties gathered in an informal meeting, preparing a first common project: stopnuclear.eu The site will be a testground for European-wide collaboration of webmasters and digital strategists. Relevant documents, videos and graphics will be collected to support each other’s efforts to fight nuclear energy and go 100% renewable.
